Time and time again God shows David that David can trust his promises. Our circumstances may lead us to believe that God is not near, or that God has forgotten us, but God promises to be with us and he has proven himself so many times before. In fact, to simply be reminded of this great truth this week, try this personal devotional exercise:
Get a journal and draw a line down then middle, making two columns. In the left-hand column write down some of the hardships you have been through in your life and then, in the right-hand column, describe how God kept his promises to you through them, and be specific as to which promise he kept. Search Scripture to find the promises he has made to you. Take it a step further and go through Scripture identifying the promises that we are still waiting to be fulfilled.
